Do you still hold on to these shares? More to the point - What is your sell trigger? At what price in relation to the fundamentals of a stock would you consider selling?
Hi Prasanth,
1. Yes, I still have all these shares.
2. I sell only if (but not necessarily if):
a) It is more than a year since I bought the stock. In this way, I avoid paying the 10% short-term CG Tax.
b) The stock is at at least twice the best price I would pay for it at that moment in time. In practice, this is more like 2.5 to 3 times the best price.
c) I have found another company to invest the proceeds in, at a cheap price.
Now you might be wondering if I have ever sold any stock, from the numbers you see in the scoreboard. The scoreboard (and this blog) shows only transactions from Jan 2005 to some six months before the date of the scorecard, so it is not an accurate picture of my buyings and sellings. (It is not meant to be. I put in the six months' lag for this reason.) The ones I have sold as of now were bought before Jan 2005.
